Cannot cancel on Sales Order line

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 2,365

This sales order with Qty 1 and Delivery remainder 1 is getting an error while trying to cancel the quantity when Update Line -> Deliver remainder -> Cancel Quantity.

The quantity cannot be reduced. The number of inventory transactions on order is too low because the quantity or part of it is referenced by an output order or a production order or is marked against other transactions.

I then try to end any output orders but there arent any, and even when I navigate to Inventory -> Output order it shows the following error message too.

Remaining quantity is less than or equal to 0. Increase quantity on the Sales order before adding quantities for output.

Is it Marked to another transaction? In the Sales order line area, 'Inventory' button -> Marking.

No, it does not show anything when I open that up.

Hit the 'Line quantity' button in the Action pane ('General' tab). Have you any quantities in  any of the columns to the right of the 'Deliver remainder' column?

Yes. Picked is at quantity 1. Everything else is blank.

You can't Cancel Quantity if it is picked.

Do you want to unpick it? You may be able to do it from the sales order line. 'Update line' -> Pick -> Add picking list update -> Register all.

    Hello Guy Terry,

I have a similar situation where the Quantity is (-2.00) negative.  In the Marking, it lists this line with Quantity and Remainder both as (-2.00).  It has not been picked, so what can I do to get rid of this line?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Shaun

    Hi Shaun,

Can you tell me a little more about your sales order line? Using the 'Line quantity' button, what are all the quantities shown for this line? What is the Issue (or receipt) status of the line's Inventory transaction?

    Thanks

    Hi Guy,

    The quantities are as follows:

    Quantity = -2.00

    Deliver Remainder = -2.00

    Deliver Now = empty

    Invoice Remainder = empty

The "Issue" is "Reserved Physical" with a Quantity  = -1.00

    Thanks,

    Shaun

    Hi ShaunIMC

Now I'm confused. If the quantities on the sales order line are -2.00, then it's a negative sales order line; perhaps for a return or a credit.

But if the inventory transaction has the direction 'Issue' and is Physical reserved with -1.00, then that's a traditional sales order line; i.e. a normal sale that results in an invoice.

I don't understand how one line can be both.

    Hi Guy,

I don't either, hence my questions on how to resolve it.  Somehow, we got in a situation where it was -2.00 (by hitting the minus sign by mistake, I am told, when entering the quantity).  However, now we cannot get rid of the line.

I cannot remove the line, nor can I cancel or delete the entire Sales Order.  I just want to clean it up and get rid of this Sales orders, but cannot seem to be able to do so.

    Thanks,

    Shaun
