Redirected Printer not using Users Defaults

We have a RemoteApp environment running on Server 2012R2 with one server acting as Connection Broker, Gateway, and Web Access and then Two RD Session Host servers.  We have NAV published to all of NAV users Desktops and everything is working for the most part, but some users have started to have issues with printing settings.  The printer in question is on a print server and deployed to users through Group Policy and basic settings (like defaulting to two sided) are configured on the print server.  The users that are having issues have changed the defaults on their local machines and we do not have a policy set to overwrite local settings after the user has set it.

When the user logs into NAV and goes to print the redirected printer settings are the default settings from the print server, not the settings on the local machine.  There have been no changes to the environment recently to make changes like this happen.

I found this article (https://community.dynamics.com/gp/f/32/t/71854) about Dynamics GP and thought I'd try it, but the redirected printer still had the default settings from the print server.

Any thoughts on what might be causing this?

Redirected printers that are not using the easy print driver will not use the local host printer settings.

Try using Easy Print drivers. Using this script to re-create the redirected printer locally may work too https://github.com/zniezelski/Printerceptor/releases

or configure the printers directly on the server and don't use redirected printers if possible.

    Thanks,

So the issue with using the local printers is that it is extremely slow.  Is there some setting that I need to change to make the local printers print any faster?

I'm not sure why the local printer would be slower than the redirected printer. How is the local printer configured? Is it on the same LAN as the server?

It is not, the RD Servers are in AWS and the print server is on the LAN in the office.

is it slow when you print stuff while on the print server?

No, printing from any of the networks in the office (4 different VLANs) prints fine.  Its only when using the local printer of the NAV Remote APP.

What if you locally install the printer directly on the RDS server instead of using the print server? Maybe do that as a test and see if it prints fast.

So a test page prints fine from the printers deployed via group policy, but still slow through the app.
