Does the MarketingOnly flag get set automatically?

Hi,

We are using Form Captures.  It looks like when a Contact/Lead is updated or created, the marketingonly flag is being set.  Is D365 Marketing doing this by default?  I do not see any documentation on it.  If it is doing that, how do we stop it?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

It is true that there is no documentation that explicitly mentions this change.

To stop it, you can create a real-time workflow targeting at Contact or Lead entity.

If a record is updated / created and the field Marketing Onlyis set as Yes (value = 1), update the record with setting the value of “Marketing Only” as 0.

If this helped you, I'd appreciate it if you'd mark this as a Verified Answer, which may in turn help others as well.

    Best Regards,

    Nya

Thank you, Nya.  So the app *is* setting this field even though we did not ask it to?  Do you know when this change went into effect?

    Hi,

I have tried to reproduce your issue and found that the contacts which is generated from a marketing form (not just a capture form) will be set as marketing only.

There is a statement saying that “Use the marketingonly flag on the contact entity to differentiate the automatically generated (marketing-only) contacts from other types of contacts.” in the following section of an official documentation.

Market to leads (Dynamics 365 Marketing) | Microsoft Docs

However, there is no indication of when it takes effect.

If this helped you, I'd appreciate it if you'd mark this as a Verified Answer, which may in turn help others as well.

    Best Regards,

    Nya
