Warehouse packing

Hello everyone,

I am trying to use warehouse management to manually pack the items. The work is created to put the item from multiple locations to a single pack location.

So, Item 202020 is picked from bulk-001 (3 quantity) and bulk-002 (2 quantity). Then 5 quantity of this item is put to pack location.

When I am trying to pack the item in the pack location, only 3 items are getting packed (no. of items from the first location). Total 5 items should be packed in this location.

Can anyone tell me what I am missing?

Also, how do I remove the warning at the top of packing station page?

    Hi Anurag Nagarkoti,

Please check if there is one more container in which the other two items are packed by mistake. Check view containers in transportation tab.

If not delete all containers and start again and make sure both lines are shown in open lines before you create any container.

    Hi Sagar,

I checked and the items are not packed in any other container. The problem is I am not getting the full quantity to pack. I am just getting the quantity that was picked from the first pick location. And if I add the shipment number again to the packing station, it does not show any line to pack. I also checked on hand inventory and the remaining quantity exists in the packing location. In fact there is no line to pack.

Can you check this in your system?

Create a work that picks the same item from multiple locations to put into pack location. After that use packing station to pack. Check whether it packs all of the quantity or just the quantity from the first work line?

    Thanks in advance.

    With regards,

    Anurag Nagarkoti

    Hi Anurag Nagarkoti,

What do you mean by "And if I add the shipment number again to the packing station,"?

While you released the order a work, shipment and a load would be created. The work which you just completed belongs to a shipment. If you pack the same shipment then you should get the lines. I have no issue in getting them.

I feel you do not use release to warehouse from sales order and instead add shipments to wave to process them?

Please share the steps you followed.

    Hi Sagar,

Thank you so much for looking into this problem. The steps that I am following are given below: -

    1. Create a sales order.

    2. Add an item with quantity such that item is picked from different locations.

       Example - Item A -  8 Qty ordered

       On hand inventory of Item A:  LOC-01 -> 5

        LOC-02 -> 3

    3. Now, I release the order to warehouse. A shipment is created.

In the wave template, I have set everything to manual.

    4. As I have set everything to manual, I create a wave. Assign the shipment to wave by clicking on Maintain shipments.

    5. After the shipment is added to shipment, I process the wave. And then, release the wave.

    6. Now work is automatically created on processing the wave. This work takes my item from storage locations to packing location.

    Work details: -

Line number            Location           Item no.          Work Qty

    1                              LOC-01            Item A                  5    (Pick)

                         2                              LOC-02            Item A                 3    (Pick)

                          3                             LOC-PACK       Item A                 8    (Put)

    7. The work is completed. In the On-hand of item, I can see that 8 qty of item A is present in LOC-PACK.

    8. I open the packing station.

    9. I enter the shipment Id on the top. In the lines below, I see that Item A is available for packing.

Now, the problem occurs because in the open lines, Item A is present but only 5 qty is shown there.

    10. I create a new container. Pack the 5 items as only 5 qty is available for packing.

Refer to the screenshots in my question.

    11. If I open the packing station again,  and I enter the shipment Id. It shows no lines in open lines area.

Please help. I am stuck at this error for 3 days.

    Thanks in advance.

    With regards,

    Anurag Nagarkoti

    Hi Sagar,

I also tried automatic wave creation. But it is still the same problem.

Maybe this is because of the yellow warning at top of packing station screen which says "Field 'ID for the load line reference' must be filled in.".

Please refer to the screenshots in the original question. You can see this warning.

    Hi Anurag Nagarkoti,

Please ensure that both the lines in work belong to the same shipment ID. What I mean by this is that if both lines will have a different delivery address then Dynamics will split the lines in two shipments which will be picked in same work.

Go to the all shipment form and search shipments for your sales order. I suspect you will find two shipments. If not then confirm me that both lines are inside the same shipment ID which you are trying to pack.

Open the shipment you are trying to pack and see the lines. Confirm me this also the load ID for both the lines.

    Hi Sagar,

    Good Morning!

I checked the shipment. There is only one shipment and one load for both the lines. I have created only one sales order.

Do you also see the yellow warning in the packing station page in your system?

    Hi,

I faced the same problem since A couple of weeks ago and I still have a support case opened to fix it (apparently it’s a bug), the only workaround that I have found is to ensure that the picking is done from only one location. This can be done by unchecking the “allow split” option on all my location directives, then if a product quantity is not enough to fill my work line from only one location, I will get a work line with location in blank and I will know that I have to make an inventory movement in order to have inventory to make only one pick. Hope it helps.

    Hi,

    1. Are you sure this is a bug?

    2. What version of Dynamics 365 are you using?

    3. Are you also getting the same warning at the top of the packing station page?

    I am using Update15 (7.0.4841.35234)

Please inform me when you get a solution or reply from Microsoft.

    Thanks in advance.
