ReportReport

Hi,

So i'm new to this,

1. can u please explain briefly what is electronic reporting and what it is used for? and how it works?

i read this in microsoft docs: "generate business documents in the required format to electronically exchange information with government bodies, banks, and other parties"

2. So i can use it to generate files? if yes, what makes it different from DMF?

3. if it can generate files, can i send those files ?

4. what is business document management? this can't be used for generating files right? and how it is different from ER?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

    For No 1:

ER can be use for more then just creating business documents. You can use it for exporting data, creating new reports where there is no standard report and even importing data e.g. from bank statements.

    For No 2:

    Yes, you can.

The difference to DMF is that you have a greater flexibility what will be exported / imported and that you can define things yourself.

    For No 3:

    Yes you can.

You can also send those files. That can be achieved by defining a SharePoint output destination and then leveraging PowerAutomate to distribute the files

    For No 4:

Business Documents are things such as sales invoices, dunning letter and all kind of documents that you might have designed using SSRS before. Now you can do that in a faster and easier way using ER.

You can find more information on MS docs and on the following sites:

    Hi Ludwig,

    1. So is Business document the same as ER? what's the difference?

I watched the video and i saw that after enabling e-nvoice on the customer in addition to to other things, you have to enable print invoice  when posting the invoice in order to see it in share point

    Now my question is

can i for example at  a specific time select like 5 invoices after they have been posted and send them to share point?

in DMF, i can create an entity, select the invoices i want then export them? how this is done using ER?

    Hi D365FO user,

One part of ER is allowing users to design business documents. So, business document designer is not ER but only a part of it.

You can select 5 invoices and then send them to SharePoint at once. That works via the periodic print functionality. You simply select your customer, filter for example for the date and when you print you select the use print management destination, which will put the 5 invoices to SharePoint. It basically works the same as in the "AX2012" past when we used SSRS reports.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig,

    1. so business document management is not used for sending documents but ER is.

    2. And if  the requirement says that i should put all invoices for customer A and B in one file (grouped) and  the invoice for customer C alone in another file ? how can i implement this?

    3. How can i export files using ER? or is the sending considered exporting?

    4. And can i export using Business document management?

    5. Also how can i trace this export like DMF, i mean see if it succeeded or not??

    Hi D365FO user,

    Here some remarks:

    No 1:

No. Business document management is part of ER and ER can be used for sending documents

    No 2:

You can put an output destination, i.e. a Sharepoint document library folder "AB" where you put the invoices of "AB" into and another folder "C" where you put the invoices of customer C into.

    No 3:

    Here is an example: dynamicsax-fico.com/.../

    No 4:

Yes, you can export all the configurations (report designs) that you made and use it in a different environment, project, ...

    No 5:

When you export things through ER you can define a batch job and define alerts if things failed.

In addition, one can setup user parameter that trace what's going on with the ER.

There are a lot of settings possible if needed.

Just have a look at the 'user parameters' button/form that you can find with your ER.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig:

    Based on ur answers

No. 2: But in electronic destination form u can only put the share point folder, which i think is generic, so how u'll specify the destination for each customer?? plus is the share point the only option? can i send to azure blob for example?

No.4: how to export it? and u mean exporting like DMF? and what's the difference between exporting from business management or ER? and where in the system can i find this?

No.5: where is this button? and if sth fails, does everything fail too like DMF or i'll get the succeeded files?

    Hi D365FO user,

    For No 2:

Right. There are a couple of options what you can do here, such as the following:

    * Define the file name as I did in one of my posts that consists of the customer and invoice number. Something like "Cust123_InvA" for Customer 123 and invoice no. A.

    * If all of your invoices follow that nomenclature then you can simply use flow to shift them into the different folders.

    For No 4:

I think we are talking about different things.

What I referred to was exporting/sharing of electronic reports

    dynamicsax-fico.com/.../

    For No 5:

    Please see the screenshots below.

Hope that answers your questions :-)

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
