Dynamics 365 Sales to Project Operations

Posted on by 123

Current Customer is using Dynamics 365 Sales, MS Project, Ticketing  system for support, xero for finance.

To suggest a move to Project Operations - the opportunities etc in Sales - how do they migrate to Project Operations?

MS Project - is there a path to migrate the projects to Project Operations?

You should be able to cover what you need with full Dynamics PO licenses for users who create accounts, quotes and/or projects and with Team Member licenses for users who only create and submit time entries and expenses.

Dynamics 365 Sales Enterprise will not be enough to work through the process from Opportunity to Project for project-related sales. You would need to buy an attach license for PO.

It's a good question!  I am also wondering if it is necessary to have to change licenses for Sales people once an organization moves to Project Operations.

If a sales person has a "Dynamics 365 Sales Enterprise" license, and the organization turns on Project Operations (opening up PSA functionality in CE), will Project Opportunities and all related sales entities be in play for them?  Can they stay with their Sales Enterprise license and still work through the process from Opportunity to Project for project-related sales?

I don't believe the licensing guide clearly addresses this question.

    Any insight is appreciated.  Thanks!

Hi stephenm171. You can install ProjOps in the same environment with D365 Sales. ProjOps (like PSA) uses the same core sales entities (Lead, Oppo, Quote, Order, Invoice) that D365 Sales does.

As to MSP to ProjOps. At the moment there is no way to migrate projects to ProjOps. The features released for Project for the web at Ignite are the ones that will be included in the near future.
