RE: Is there Reserve Order Concept in NAV?

    Hi All,

I'd like to reopen this topic. I understand the automatic reservation, I can choose reservation on stock or on purchase order, so it's ok for me. But what is the connection between automatic reservation and MRP?

    Our scenario:

    1. there is a sales order and on this there is an Item "A" which doesn't have stock at the moment. When I create the sales line the system mentions that automatic reservation it is not possible, do you want to reserve items manually way? I choose No.

    2. I run the MRP and I create a new purchase order by MRP standard

    3. In my mind the expected result would be that MRP provide the connection between sales order and purchase order by reservation. As I tested It doesn't work. But in this scenario (without automatic reservation by MRP) the quantity on purchase order it's free anybody can reserve for it and I can not serve (quarantee the needed quantity) the original sales order

I come from Dynamics AX world and this scenarion seems absolutly clear and I am looking for the way to manage this in NAV 2017

Technicall yes, you can reserve an order but you need to do for every item on the order as it controlled based the setup of the item or the option you choose directly on the sales line. You can reserve the inventory or the inbound order (Purchase, Transfer or Production) towards the item on the sales line.

To do the reservation on the sales line Click Functions -Reserve and from the reservation window you can choose which line to reserve against.

You can reserve the Inventory / Inbound entries at Sales Order, Transfer Order, Production Order, Item Journal, Assembly Order, Service Order, Job Order etc.

At Sales Order > Lines > Functions > Reserve. This will reserve the inventory for this particular order. You can also cancel the reservation, if needed.

You also have the option to Always reserve (Auto Reserve - as soon as you create document) the Item.

    Hope this helps.

There is an option to reserve items for the clients from sales orders. You can reserve items that are already in stock, or make a reserve from vendor's purchase orders that are not yet in stock. The reservation is done on item level using the warehouse selected in the Sales Order. Thus, selecting reserves on each line of Sales Order, you will reserve the whole sales order.
