Hi All,

I am trying to export a built-in data entity in D365 F&O to a BYOD database (Azure SQL DB of P1), it could be published successfully if the option "Create clustered column store Indexes" is off on the data source, but it will failed when the option is on, the error message is as below.

Kindly please help.

    Hi julian.wu.cn,

Can you publish other entities without issues? Have you tried to regenerate mapping for the entity (Data management - Entity list - Find entity - Modify target mapping - Generate mapping?

As a workaround, you can publish an entity without a column store index and create a clustered column store index manually.

    Thank you Sergei.

I tried what you adised, however it still does not work. I am not sure if there is any other special settings of the data entities themselves in order to support the columnstore indexes.

The workaround is definitely an option, we have about 150 customized data entities, maybe just manaully create the columnstore indexes on the top ones.

    Hi julian.wu.cn,

There is only one checkbox to control columnstore index creation for BYOD located under the Entity store list.

Are you sure if BYOD has a P1 tier?  If you press Validate button on the entity store form, do you see it in the infolog? Can you, please, also check if you can create columnstore index manually in BYOD?

    Yes, it  is P1.

We have columnstore indexes on the fact tables. however we would like to create the columnstore indexes on the big staging tables (from 1GB to 50GB).

    Hi julian.wu.cn,

Are you using devbox or sandbox? In devbox you can check event logs for more details.

If it's the sandbox you can create a ticket to MS to investigate the issue.

It is a sandbox, however I tried it on a devbox which has the exact the same version, it got the same error message. And I see the same issue on the version as below.

    Installed product version : 10.0.14 (10.0.605.20013)Installed platform version : Update38 (7.0.5778.41503)

And here is the log from the event viewer. Is it that possible a D365 FO bug?

    Hi julian.wu.cn,

I checked if I can publish 1099 fields entity on version 10.0.14 and I didn't get any issue. Do you have another instance of BYOD to connect and test?

Yes, that is a totally different environment.

Which is pricing tier of your BYOD database?

    Hi julian.wu.cn,

It's a P2. But column store indexes are supported from S3 and for all databases in P-tier.
