Deployment of Field Service Mobile - Offline Profile

We are wanting to make modifications to the out of the box Field Service Mobile - Offline Profile to add in our own entities and deploy it to all our various environments. What is the recommend approach is it best to deploy it in its own solution rather than within a core deployment solution. Would you do it as managed or unmanaged if using a solution? Is an alternative approach using data transporter in XRMToolbox potentially? Any advice and expierence could give would be greatly appreciated. I think we should modify the OOB one rather than creating our own as it should get automatic updates from any Field Service updates.

    Hi Alex,

    You can refer following document:

I have read this article already but it doesn't mention how to transfer the profile from your dev environment through to production. What I want to know is whats the recommended approach or has anyone had experience of the pitfalls of using different methods.

    Hi Alex,

If your plan is to deploy the mobile offline profile as it's own solution which can be moved between environments the general recommendation would be to:

    1. Clone the default out of box profile

    2. Make changes in that profile

    3. Wrap it into a Managed Solution

    4. Move that Managed Solution between environments

This should give you the best chance to not run into conflicts when importing the profile into a new org, and by using a managed solution you would easier be able to uninstall if you needed to remove the solution in the future.

By cloning the out of box profile you would have a clean version to reference in the future.  One draw-back is that if the out of box profile changes in the future you would need to manually merge those changes into your profile, if changes are desired.
