Unable to connect to the remote server - External FTP access in Azure D365 VMs

Hi All,

Could you please help me sort out below problem?

Im doing EDI Interfaces between D365 and Third party via External FTP File Server.

It has two interfaces Inbound/Outbound.

Inbound which reads third party XML file from inbound folder 
and creates Sales Order in D365.

Outbound which sends sales invoices as XML file to FTP Outbound Folder.

All these are working fine when i do it between local VM and External FTP Server but fails from Azure DEV or UAT Machines

Error im getting here is : Unable to connect to the remote server

Please help to me how to enable external FTP Server access in Azure VMs?

    Hi Kanna,

    You should know that you don't have any access to Prod, so if there are some issues in Azure hosted VMs you will 100% hit them in Prod but without ability to fix them! So probably it's a good time to rethink architecture of your integration and look at web service or flow that sits in the middle between AX and FTP.

    Thanks for Suggestion mate. We are planning to go for azure hosted FTP server for Production and UAT. Will it be work using Azure Hosted FTP server with D365?

    Thanks for heads up Sukrut. It means Webservice should hosted somewhere outside Azure hosted VM's. Am i correct?

    There is a firewall in place that restricts  bunch of ports and protocols, so everything that goes over http\https should be ok.

    Issue resolved by making FTP server as Passive Mode
