Does default order type of those productions which production type is formula have to be production?
If you can change the default order type from production to purchase order, please tell me how to do it.
Please refer below my current situation for your better understanding.
Current situation:
A formula was created which combines production A (material) & production B (material) in order to produce production X(finished goods).
Because the production A and the production B are used in formula, their production type is set as formula.
The production A and the production B are purchased from a supplier (not manufactured in own factory).
Now we are here → Because we purchase the production A and production B from a supplier, we'd like their default order type be purchase order. But we cannot set their default order type purchase order.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask me.
Thank you for your supports in advance.
Kind regards,

Thank you very much for your help!
Yes, you understand correctly. Setting items A & B to production type = None is fine and is the intended setup for purchased items. Note that since you've currently set production type = formula for these items, changing to None will actually remove any formula / bom versions you may have and will change your default order type to Purchase. You'll get a warning on this before you commit the change, and it is reversible if needed.

Hi Colby,
Thank you very much. I could have changed the default order type.
With regards to item A and B,
they are just purchased from the vendor.
Because item A and B are consumed in a formula to produce product X, we set their production type formula.
Do you mean that item A and B's production type does not have to be formula because they are just purchased from the vendor (we don't produce them in any way)?
I'd like to know whether it is possible to use items which production type is none to create a formula to produce a product X like settings below.
Settings:
Product X (production type: formula) produced by a formula which consumes
item A (production type: none) and item B (production type: none)
No, the Default Order Type does not have to be Production for items where the Production Type = Formula. You can set the Released Products -> Plan tab -> default Order settings -> Default Order type OR there might be a warehouse level override at Released Products -> Plan Tab -> Item Coverage -> General Tab -> Change planned order type.
When you say you cannot change the default order type to purchase, what error message do you get?
You may want to ask why it was set the way it is before you change it. Do you have a formula defined for item A / B for the vendor to consume other ingredients that you provide? And on these formulas you have a service item that you actually cut a purchase order for? Do you usually make this item and only sometimes purchase it? Both are valid scenarios for having the default order type of production.
