Tier 2 database access

Hello,

I'm trying to connect to a tier2 non production database. I have the complete server name and the credentials, but it appears that I can't to the azure db since my ip address is not

on the whitelist. The 'enable access' in LCS only appears to work for remote desktop connections. I can remote desktop into that environment.

How can I connect ? How do I get whitelisted ?

Best regards

Did you make sure the ax database name is specified in the connection properties ?

    Hi Darrell,

Also please go to options and change the default database to your AXDB database.

    RE: Tier 2 database access

    1. Azure DB Server name like yourservername.database.windows.net.

    2. In SSMS->Options->connections property tab, input your database name

    3. Make sure you connect from AOS server

    4. If you are going to connect from DEV, you need to Add your IP address to a whitelist. Refer:docs.microsoft.com/.../dbmovement-scenario-debugdiag

    5. If you still can't connect to Azure DB, raise a ticket for MS to investigate.

I'm also connecting against DBMSName.database.windows.net. The reference says I should be connecting against DBMS\DB. Doing that, I can't even find the database for the connection.

Thanks, that makes sense. The reference implies that the user would be able to make the connection from the VM which should normally be whitelisted since it is the AOS. From there he opens it up and can get to it from another dev box via SSMS. However, I can't even connect from the VM to the Azure db as I'm getting that error. As a result, I can't run any SPs.

    RE: Tier 2 database access

    Hi Darrell,

If you have access to Tier2 VM via RDP, you can connect log in to VM and add a firewall rule for Azure SQL.

    Check reference docs.microsoft.com/.../dbmovement-scenario-debugdiag
