REST vs SOAP.

I believe you posted this question after lot of blogs reading over internet. If you say in terms of Dynamics CRM perspective then I would say there is two services one is Organization service which is SOAP and MS introduce new WEB API which is rest services .
Now its time to use rest services as its easy to use and transport over http protocol , in addition there is no need to use additional web resources (XrmServiceToolkit ) of SDK (SDK.REST). You can directly post any kind of request using XMLHttpRequest.
SOAP service we are still using to create organization service or server side coding which is more reliable and secure than REST service , you will get all the advantages of the different transport channel with XML . You could see below post to understand more -

In addition you can find many videos and blogs in you tube those are same in terms of dynamics CRM if you ask for the difference perspective .
