Hello,

I'm exploring the long term retention functionality for general ledger transactions in my organisation. I get the error An error occurred while creating the long term retention job. The given key was not present in the dictionary. when trying to run a retention job. I'm unsure what that means or where to go next. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Michael

    Hi Michael,

Can you elaborate on the steps you performed exactly before you get this error? Have you also followed all steps and do you meet the prerequisite requirements as listed in the documentation? Set up and manage archive data in finance and operations apps - Finance & Operations | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn

    Hi André,

    Sure

    1. Support partner enabled license key
    2. Updated Finance and operations virtual entity
    3. Updated Dynamics 365 finance and operations platform tools
    4. Installed Dynamics 365 Archive with Dataverse long term retention
    5. Set the environment to be a managed environment
    6. Enabled Archive with Dataverse long term retention in feature management
    7. Refreshed on General ledger within the Archive workspace
    8. Created a retention job on a legal entity marked "Ready" within General ledger
    9. Received error

Although I received the error, a job seems to have been created

But as of yet I cannot see any history data

    Hi Michael,

As a job has been created, please check if all is working OK. I have used the feature where I didn't have this error in my environment.

Thanks André, the job has been running over the weekend and there seems to have been no change.

    Hi Michael,
Please check out the following TechTalk video on this functionality to ensure you’ve followed the required prerequisites, such as activating the feature and closing the periods before archiving data:

    Hello Everyone,

I'm working on archiving data using Dataverse long-term retention. I've completed all the prerequisites and setup, and I've scheduled the archival job for inventory transactions. However, the job is stuck in the 'Pending move to history' state. Can someone please guide me on how to proceed?
