RSAT - Task recorder interaction with SysBPMPane

Posted on by 10

Hello,

I've tried using Regression Suite Automation Tool for my customer who wants to achieve automated testing. We tried to start with automating two processes that are executed fully in F&O. We used Task recorder and saved them to the corresponding BPM process.

However, when I try to create Test Execution and Parameter Files for the correspondig test cases, RSAT gives me the error that apparently we recorded the test cases while interacting with SysBPMPane, which we did not. We only interacted with D365 F&O.

Any ideas on what this SysBPMPane is, and how we evade this problem? In the best scenario I won't have to go to the client and tell them we need to re-record the test case, without knowing what the cause was.

Best regards,

Johan

    Hello Johan,

I am facing this same issue. Did you find the cause and a fix to use BPM for testing? Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Re-recording worked. However, I still do not understand where this issue arises from. I have gotten it at few times since then, but re-recording always works.

Hello Hana, thanks for your reply.

The issue is however that I am not aware of using any BPM tools while recording the test case. Yet still, the error message states that I used the SysBPMPane.

I interacted with BPM only after I stopped the recording where I only used it to saved the recording to the related process in BPM according to 2:30 in the video you sent youtu.be/bBr4BXAxTNI . I did this because it is considered to be best practice with RSAT to save the recording to BPM instead of manually creating test cases in Azure DevOps and attaching developer recording files to them.

I will try to re-record the test case with the customer on monday, but I do not know what I should do differently. Hopefully it will work.

    Hi Johanmakii,

According to the error message, you need a new record that does not use SysBPMPane, and the appearance of SysBPMPane may be related to the use of BPM tools in lcs. If you don't need to enable testing and distribute test repositories across projects and tenants, you don't need to use BPM. If you are not using BPM, you can manually create test cases in Azure DevOps and attach developer recording files to your Azure DevOps test cases. You can create developer recording files directly from the Task recorder pane.

More details about the RAST are in the links below, you can view it as needed.
