Embed Dynamics 365 Customer Service (available on Tenant 2) in Teams tab of Tenant 1

Posted on by 50

Hi,

I've two tenant, Tenant 1 and Tenant 2

In Tenant 1 I've all employee registered with Office 365 license and they use Teams

In Tenant 2 I've some employees registered with Dynamics 365 Team member license and use mainly Dynamics 365 Customer Service application

Because some people registered in Tenant 1 are the same that have the Dynamics 365 Team member license I would to create an access to this application within Teams

So I would have people that use Teams in Tenant 1 and a teams tab with Dynamics 365 Customer Service app in Tenant 2.

When I create the teams tab using Dynamics 365 app I see that automatically the app try to authenticate to Dynamics 365 in the Tenant 1

Is there a possibility to use in teams tab Dynamics 365 app on another tenant?

Best Regards

Vincenzo

    Thanks, very clear!

Because MS Teams doesn't support multiple identities, if I do log off and login with user from tenant 2, also MS Team disconnect from the user1 in tenant 1, I don't know if I can develop something as well as a custom team tab to implement this feature or is impossible to do

    Hey Vincenzo.

Two different tenants, are 2 different domains.  user1@tenant1.com opens teams, it will automatically authenticate with his user/domain. Any app he tries to open, will attempt to use the same credentials.  As far as I know, you can´t open anything from Tenant2, despite it might be the same person, because the identity required is different (user1@tenant2.com), and MS Teams doesn't support multiple identities at the same time (you would be required to log off and login with the user from tenant2)

    regards,

    Hi Daniel,

    Thanks for your answer

However, I've just need to open Dynamics 365 in teams tab.  I already have a Dynamics license on hosting tenant (tenant 2)

I'll try to explain better and in simple way:

    • I've a user on tenant 1 with Office 365 license that use Teams (User1@tenant1) and a user on tenant 2 with Dynamics 365 Team member license (User1@tenant2)

I would configure teams tab on Teams application named "Customer Service", so when the User1 open Teams on specific channel (Eg. General), he is able to open Dynamics Customer Service Team member app (hosted on tenant 2 with license) in the teams tab (using User1@tenant2 even though he have to insert login/password)

    Teams tab on tenant 1:

    At moment:

    • the Dynamics app (as teams tab) works only in Power platform environments in tenant 1
    • the Website app configured with Dynamics url in tenant 2 doesn't works because it automatically authenticate using User1@tenant1 that doesn't exists in tenant 2

Is there a possible solution? Any idea?

    Best Regards

    Vincenzo

If you have an app on tenant1 and you require users from tenant2 to access, you need to implement one of the following:

    - Azure Guest Users:  learn.microsoft.com/.../b2b-quickstart-add-guest-users-portal

    - Azure B2B integration:  learn.microsoft.com/.../what-is-b2b

Despite the one you choose, the tenant that hosts the app (Tenant1) should have licenses available for the users from Tenant2.  This is documented on learn.microsoft.com/.../invite-users-azure-active-directory-b2b-collaboration, where it specifically states that you need to assign a license on Hosting tenant
