On Click of Custom button(Release) , how can i make record readonly (Inactive)

Hello everyone,

I have one urgent requirement of following .......

i have one custom button called Release ..when user click on Release then records should get save and same time it should be in read only mode.. how can we achive this ..

i have created button and wrote one JS cripts for saving records but ...how can i do do read only mode record ......

Please suggest complete Steps to follow ....

Please any help ....Urgent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Amit,

    When the record's status is inactive, it will be read-only.

    So you just change value of status and status reason fields, it can be in read only mode.

    You can refer following link for more details, which calling the Xrm.WebApi.updateRecord function to update the record:

    And you need make save and update functions in the one button, maybe you can refer following similar thread, the second answer can help you:
