Customize journal batch and maintain independent field order in journal batches

Posted on by Microsoft Employee
I’ve recently started working at a company and I am required to regularly post journals. Several journal batches have been setup in the system. I have a problem with using these as the fields do not match the order of the journal files in Excel. The only solution that has been provided by more knowledgeable staff is to resequence the fields in the journal batch to match the journal file in excel and then paste the data into the batch. However when I do this all the journal batches accessible to me also have their field order changed. This means that every time I need to post a different format of journal I need to change the order of the batch I am using and then change it again to suit the next journal format. I thought that each journal batch is independent and can be customised to suit the type of journal entry. How can I fix this?

This is the problem. When I change field sequence of  1 journal batch all others change.  What is the journal page?

One other solution to add for Hannes is if you have 2 or 3 batches with different formats then make a copy of the existing journal page and order the sequence you want. You will have multiple journal pages with different sequnnce of fields.

    Hi Michael,

The order of columns is dependent on the Journal Page itself.

The journal batch does not influence the order.

You have two options if you want to automise the import:

    - create one Excel-template that is used company-wide for journals

    - create a configuration package in Rapidstart for each journal batch (depends on your NAV-version, your IT-team might be able to help you)
