Hi all,

I'm looking for some documentation describing a list of differences between publishing/installing an extension onpremise using Visual Studio Code or Powershell.

Thanks for your replies.

What do you mean by “differences”? You can use Powershell only on-premise, while with VS Code you can publish also on SaaS sandboxes (not production). Publishing via Powershell is scripting while via VS Code is a command to launch.

    Thanks for your answer,

when we use vs code, source code is always visible and I’m wondering if there’s any other properties like this one where différences exist between vscode and powershell extension installation.

Source code is visible if ShowMyCode property is set to true.

I think when axtensions are published with VS Code, my code is still visible even if showmycode is set to false.

In my experience You should always install extensions to OnPrem Production environment by PowerShell.

I have had issues during upgrades with extensions published directly from VS Code, so there is a difference.

Agree, always use Powershell in a production onpremise environment.

i think VS Code uses same commands as if you were to use PowerShell when deployments are done. If there is a difference its because those commands are preconfigured or hard-coded in AL Language VSIX extension.

Yes for onprem, not for SaaS (sandboxes).
