Mode of delivery on WHS Shipment

On the Shipment (header) is a 'Mode of delivery' field. I was hoping the mode of delivery would copy from a sales order when using the 'Release to warehouse' button, but this doesn't happen. Has anyone found if it does get populated automatically?

The Warehouse management implementation guide mentions that "Wave Templates – Enable you to create work based on a wave which lets you use filters to only create work for a certain mode of delivery....". The easiest way to do that would be if the mode of delivery was set on the Shipment, so I assume there is some way to get AX to set this.

It is in fact copied from the sales order. But this field is part of the TMS functionality. So in order to use it, you need to set up TMS shipping carriers - this is what drives the mode of delivery. Note, that it is also not the same mode of delivery as on the order, it's a related field code Mode (which is set up under TMS module as well).

If I link the sales order Mode of Delivery to a TMS Shipping Carrier, it does as you say. And I get useful functionality to define different services for the same carrier. I like!

    Thanks Ivan.
