Dear

i am getting the below error when trying to post a journal with tax

The ledger posting group XXTAX does not have an account for sales tax direction Sales tax payable specified.

although i am using the USE TAX functionality

it should not be requesting the sales tax payable, any idea why i am getting this ?

Hello Silvano,

Can you please check your main account setups and verify that they have all tax relevant parameters (posting type + sales tax direction) specified?

Hi Silvano,

You can find the field in the COA

in my home Country this is not a required field but I know that companies that operate for example in Austria have to use it.

Probably try if selecting a value in this field helps you getting rid of the message.

Hi Silvano,

You can deactivate the sales tax direction requirement in the GL Parameter form in the sales tax section. Simply tick off 'tax direction requirement' and this should fix the issue. Before doing that please clarify with your tax accountants whether this is something they need.

Hi Silvano,

Please check your sales tax group setup then. I have found only one method related to the sales tax group setup that triggers this message.

If you can't get it managed yourself, please ask a developer for some help to debug.

Go to General Ledger > Setup > General ledger parameters > [Sales Tax tab] and make sure Apply US Taxation Rules checkbox is checked. Turning that off can throw some misleading error messages.
