Financial dimension set update balance batch job

Hi Experts,

I executed the Update Balance batch job for a financial dimension set by selecting the legal entity context as "ALL". However, upon reviewing the batch job ID and checking its parameters, I noticed that the legal entity context has changed to "Current".

Additionally, the logs do not provide any confirmation that the batch job executed across all legal entities and only USMF is listed in the batch job history.

Is this behavior expected by design?

How can we verify that the batch job has indeed run for ALL legal entities?

Hi Anoop,

As far as I remember, it will update balances per dimension set, not restricted per company, but I might be wrong. Have you tried setting up this batch job in the DAT company?

Anyway, there is a feature available in feature management with a storage and performance improvement for dimension sets. This will also replace the need for setting up this batch job. Ensure you test the impact before enabling it in a production environment as data will be physically stored in new tables. Hi Andre,

Yes, I tested this but getting the same results. So, I assume this is by design, however not able to validate of the update batch job is working for all the legal entities.

Microsoft has suggested to enable the ‘Performance enhancement for general ledger dimension set balance calculation’ feature that was specifically created for this type of performance issues. This is available from 10.0.38. New financial dimension sets - Finance | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn.

However, as you mentioned, it is getting failed due to old tables as client use lot of customized reports and few of this are getting failed. We are fixing this first before enabling the feature in Prod.

Meanwhile we have suggested "Update balance" batch job since client has not enabled this and balances are updated only in TB form when user click "Calculate balance" and they experience delay in TB run as balance are updated only at this time.
