Disabling Printing to "Template" for the Sales Blank Invoice Form

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

Hi:

In order to enable the "Standard" selection the Report Destination window for generating the Sales Blank Invoice Form, I unchecked this format in GP's Reports...Template Configuration window.

But, "Template" is still the default selection.

What else can be done to have the printing go to "Standard", by default?

Thanks!

John

    Hello John,

Thank you for posting your question on the forums. I will be answering your question.

What determines if Template will Default into the Report Definition window or not will depend on if you have a Template for that Report set in the Template Configuration window.

Example for the SOP Blank Invoice Form.

    1. Open the Template Configuration window.
      1. Expand 'Enable all Template for all Companies.
      2. Expand the company database that you want this to stop defaulting in.
      3. Expand Purchasing.
      4. Unmark the checkbox for POP Blank Invoice Form or the Template/report in question.
      5. Save the changes
      6. Close the window.
    2. Now test if it still defaults in as template.

For further information, here is another forum post with this information.

    I hope this helps John!

    Thank you!

    Hi There, Brandon!

Thank you, for the quick reply.  Yes, you were helpful.  I just fixed this!

What needed to happen was to login as "sa".  Earlier, I was logged in as the end user.  At that time, when I went into the Reports Maintenance window as her, I did not see a list of modified Word templates.

So, as "sa", I then saw that indeed they had such a template not for Blank Invoice but for Blank Invoice Options.

After unchecking the box in Reports Configuration and unassigning the report in Reports Maintenance, "Standard" indeed appeared instead of "Template" when printing.

As usual, thank you for your excellent service!

    Hello John,

Thank you for your response letting me know this did not work.

I was able to dig into this further. Even after shutting off Template in the Template Configuration, was able to still get the Template option to default.

What i had to further do is remove any Templates i had under the Modified section of Template to stop this from Defaulting to Template. Now, i did not have any of these set to be used and the core Template was not assigned to any company either.

You can try deleting the Templates out of the Modified Section and see if this works.

    1. If you have modified Templates, i recommend that you export these and save them so they are not lost when deleted.
      1. Open the Template Maintenance window.
        1. Administration >> Reports >> Template Maintenance
      2. Report Name = Select the Template in question. (Be sure to select the one that says Modified) Screenshot is only an example

        pastedimage1583537889055v1.png
      3. Select Each one and click Modify to open it was a word document.
      4. Save this and store it in a safe location.
      5. Delete the Template from the modified section
      6. Repeat for all template in this window.
    2. Now, open the Original one in the Template Maintenance.
      1. If this is assigned to the company in question, remove it from the company by selecting Assign and unmarking the checkbox for the company and click save.
    3. Now determine if it still defaults in as template.

NOTE: If your other users use templates and you only want it to default to Standard for one employee, then you will need to use VBA to have this default to Standard.

    I hope this helps John!

Let me know if this works.

    Thank you!

    Hey Brandon!

Actually, what you sent earlier did work.  I came back here earlier and edited the case, with the notes shown below.

All good.  Thank you, for your help!
