Hello, we are using Dynamics 365 Marketing Module.

I need to know how we can track all our Social media visits to our website.

How can we track that a particular visit on our website came through our company's LinkedIn or Twitter ?

Also, how can we have a unified analytics.

For a scenario, If a user first visited to our website through clicking one of our email campaign. Second day same user visited our website through our company's LinkedIn page. Third day same user visited our website though an organic search.

We need to track this order that the user first came though email campaign and system should recod his details. Second day when he visit website through LinkedIn system should know this person and records it accordingly.

How to track above scenario and Social media visits in Dynamics 365 Marketing?

I have the same question (0)

Thank you Satish but we already went thought articles you shared.

In our Dynamics Marketing module we are tracking the Page visits, Referral URL, time for users coming on our website but its not tracking the Contact name if a contact is already in our database and visits our website. It shows Anonymous visit to every contact it track.

Do you have ay idea why its not tracking the contact name if contact is already in our database and how we can check it or resolve it?

    Hello Satish,

I already check the link you shared and also below links:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../readme

    docs.microsoft.com/.../insights-glossary

It does mention as a known issue under Microsoft Module relating recoding a contact name unless a contact submits a form on website.

If we want to create a report for all contacts who visited our website last month, there will few records as not all contacts visiting our website already in our database submit any form.

As in marketing flow, we want to capture a customer journey a contact first visited our website through our email campaign, after couple of days he went to our company's LinkedIn page and visited our website though LinkedIn and later he visited our website through organic search. We are able to track the visits in Marketing but we are not able to track the contact name.

Thanks for sharing detailed info. This could be related to the point where it mentioned about known issue. According to article - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/marketing/readme#websites it should work and show contact name -

The websites feature records all visits to any web page that has a Dynamics 365 Marketing tracking script on it. Each log entry includes a timestamp and, if possible, links to a known contact. If the visitor isn't a known contact, then that visit is logged as anonymous. The website tracking script sets a cookie, so the system can group visits into sessions, even for anonymous visits. When a contact submits a landing-page form, the system sets the same cookie (if not present already) and can thereafter match the cookie ID to a contact ID because the landing-page submission will either create or match a contact. Once a visitor is known, all future website visits will be logged with that user's ID. However, previous visits will remain anonymous (the system doesn't back-fill the contact ID to the existing visitor log).

I would request you to open a support ticket with us so that we can investigate why its not tracking the contact name when it's already in database.

Also, as per the above article also mentions, it records contact after he submits a landing a page form. Does it not record any contact already in our database if he just visits a page of our website without submitting any form ?
