Fixed Price project, and commercial invoice

Hi,

We are working on a case where we have Fixed price project agreements with our clients with milestone billing. The products need to be sent across various borders according to where the customers are placed. As part of this, we need invoice / commercial invoices for customs clearance. What would be the correct setup for doing this? We are working on a setup with a FP top project and TM sub project, however we are not sure if we miss a process path different from this.

Cheers Daniel

    Hi,

For me its a bit hard to understand what part of the process is new and which parts are already in place.

    Regarding Projects:
Are you already working with projects? If so, which kind of projects (Fixed or TM or both)?

    Regarding customers aborad:
Do you ship already items\services abroad, or is this something new?

What I can tell you, the invoices you create are project invoices. Therefore, if you havent worked with projects so far you need to set up project invoice document as an ssrs report, through electronic reporting or a 3rd party ISV solution.

    Kind regards, Adis

    Hi @Adis

    Thanks for your reply.

We are transitioning from another ERP system, so no current processes are in place in D365FO.

The projects are FP in the agreements with customers. These projects include items that need to be sent abroad. The use of a TM sub-project would more be a way of achieving the commercial invoice - but it seems not optimal to go that way.

Yes, we have worked with Dynamics projects before. This issue is to have the FP projects with milestone billing while having a way to create the commercial invoice for logistics. The project invoice for milestone billing does not detail the prices of items, therefore we are looking for something different to support this.

    Cheers

For future reference, we found the solution by using the advanced WH module on Item requirement lines for a FP project. Thereby, we don't need to use TM project.

The advances WH, can support the logistic documents on shipment / loads. Im not sure when this was availble, but glad to see it now.
