Seeking Guidance on Returning to D365 Functional Consulting After a Break

Hello everyone,

I worked as a D365 Functional Consultant for 2 years, from 2018 until September 2020, when I unfortunately lost my job due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially, I attended a few interviews but wasn’t able to secure a new role as a functional consultant. An opportunity in another field came my way, and I decided to pursue it.

After 3 years in this new field, I’ve realized that stepping away from the ERP space was a significant mistake. I’m now committed to returning to the D365 field and have been diligently preparing by clearing the MB-310 certification, upgrading my skills, and deepening my knowledge of Dynamics.

Over the past 4-5 months, I’ve appeared in over 20 interviews, but I haven’t yet secured a role. I’m reaching out to this community to seek your advice: Am I on the right path? Are there any tips or guidance you can share from your experience that could help me land a job as a D365 Functional Consultant? I’m ready to start at the same package I had before, as my primary focus is on learning and growing in this field.

I would be deeply grateful for any guidance or advice you can offer.

Thank you in advance, and I look forward to hearing from the respected members of this community.

    Hi,

Practical learning is essential. Try to deploy a trial environment and get hands-on.

You have a lot of good YouTube channels, explore that and go through Microsoft learn.

20 Interviews in 4-5 months it is big number.
Switching roles/jobs back & forth especially in IT is never a mistake, it is norm. why the interviews are failing is something you can analyze by yourself.

Winning an interview is a war these days not a battle or fight.
Gone are the days when there was almost only one interviewer with person concerned.
Now there are multiple rounds of selection anywhere from 2-20 people on the hiring side with lengthy long, laborious conversations and you miss one and chapter closed.
