SSRS Access denied exception

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

We have two Reporting Servers in our AX2012R2 environment. When trying to klick on the "Validate settings" button for the second SSRS server in the Report servers configuration window, we get the following error:

Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))

We are able to generate the DynamicsAX report folder with the button "Create report folder", but then we cannot validate the settings.

We can deploy the reports and access the website, but we cannot render the standard reports fromout the AX client.

The first server is a Windows 2012 with SQLServer 2012 server which works fine.

The second server is a Windows 2012R2 with SQLServer 2012 server.

Are there known issues with SSRS on Windows 2012R2 server?

Thanks for your suggestions

Hans-Peter

Make sure "Remote registry" service is running.

Thanks Nunna for your reply, but in my case there are no dependencies with "Remote registry" service.

    Hello Ramy

Thanks for your reply. In my case, adding my user to the "Distributed Com Users" group like described in the link above, only changed the error message to the following:

"The name of SQL Server Reporting Services [servername] ist unknown or the url of the webservice is not valid".

    Do you have other ideas?

    Hi Hans-Peter,

I got the exact same error once before, but that was when exporting a model in command line. I resolved it by excuting "run as administrator".

So my guess is this is related to some security policies which control the accesssiblity of your database server.

    I found the solution;

The user that is pushing the button "Validate settings" in his AX Client has to be local administrator of the machine which is hosting the SQL Server Reporting services.

Which is a little strange of course.

    Regards

    Hans-Peter
