Change color of Navigation Bar in Business Central 22.17 OnPrem

Hello together,

i was asking myself, is there a possibility to change the color/the design of the Navigation bar in the webclient of Business Central 22.17 OnPrem?
To help our users navigate between webclient tabs with different companies open, we want to make it as easy as possible for them to distinguish one company from another in their browser tabs.

Changing the color of the small company button on the Navigation Bar is not sufficient, since it isn't present enough and can be hidden by opened pages.

We tried creating a controlAddIn with javascript to change the color of the whole Navigation Bar, but sadly it didn't work out. The script inside the addIn cannot see the whole page but it's context.

Any idea/help is highly appreciated. Thanks :)

    Hi,
you can use Company Badge Customization (most viable built-in option)
Even though you mentioned it's not visually strong enough, this is the only officially supported way to visually distinguish companies.
    • In BC, go to:
      My Settings → Company Badge
      There, you can set:
      • Badge Text
      • Badge Color (background)
      • Text Color

    Hello,

    thank you for your answers.

First of all, yes the Company Badge is not visible enough to avoid confusion and possibly problems.

The second response is a solution to differentiate environments, which i have done for our current BC14 environment some time ago.
Since the .css is static and can be changed based on what environment/installation you are connecting too, it will not help in changing the colors based on the current opened company.
In general, these solutions are helpful and are better than nothing. Coming from the Windows Client, our users are used to see on which environment and which company they are currently working. Getting back this clarity in the Webclient is really important to us.

For more insight: I was checking controlAddIn with javascript, which didn't work.
I was checking if there is any place in the wwwroot folder in any .js file, where i could add a simple script block, expecting it to appear in the html header of the opened webclient, which i did not find anything simple or "not jank". (Besides that i don't like this method at all.)
And i tried using a browser extension which executes javascript on the webclient tab and changes colors based on opened company, but this is difficult to implement in our company and for all our users for different reasons, but works.
