Dev Environment DB restore SysDatabaseLog table missing

Hello,

We need to take SysDatabaseLog records to a specific Dev environment before we clear all from Prod.

We restored the UAt environment from Prod and all database log records are ok in UAT but when we restore UAT environment Db to Dev environment SysDatabaseLog table is empty.

I searched for any article or information online but couldn't find anything relevant to missing database logs.

Do you guys have any information or exprience like this?

Thanks

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Burak,

Can you tell us how you move the databases? Are you using a backup and restore of the complete database or do you have scripts or export and import individual tables?

    Hi Andre,

    Thanks for your reply.

I used the standard LCS move database function to export UAT environment DB as a bacpac file.

Then I used the sqlpackage commands to import it to Dev machine as described on Move database tutorials on Microsoft Docs.

    Regards

    Hi Burak,

I never paid attention myself to check if the database log was copied along or not.

Did you also run a full database synchronization from within Visual Studio when you imported the backup? Have you checked if the database log was empty using the table browser in SQL server management studio, the Dynamics 365 table browser or on the database log form?

    Hi,

I created a MS support request and it seems SysDatabaseLog table is one of information that doesn't export from UAT move database operations.

This changes my question to how can I export database log records from UAT environment to a Dev environment?

    Regards.

    Hi,

As far as I know,  environment based settings are not copied like passwords etc. So I do not think that can be mamageable in anyways.

    Hi Burak,

Thanks for sharing the details. I was aware of certain environment specific information, but not the exclusion of the database log.

If you really need the database logs, you can request temporary database access and export the tables or the whole backup manually.
