Modifications not detected from servicetier

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We are running a single tenant database on a server, and we have different servicetiers on another server, one for each company which connects to the database.

I cannot understand why some servicetiers can see immediately a modification on database (change of object or data change from SQL), while other servicetiers cannot see them until service restart.

Can you help me identifying the cause?

Version is NAV 2013 R2.

Best regards,

Federico.

It depends on how object change listener is setup up, everytime you restart a service it should leave a log in the even viewer which will let you know if the change listener is enabled or not.

    please check this blog

it's not true.. I always changed code in codeunits 1 and 40 (for example) and they were immediately updated on the client.

Last week I added a column on a report and 3 servicetiers didn't see the modification, while the others did.

depends on the kind of the change.

changes in rdlc reports do not need a nav service restart, may need a restart of the windows client. changes in tables (e.g. adding a field) do also not need a nav service restart in most cases. changes in codeunits, especially the main CUs like cu 1 do always need a restart, because many of them are loaded, when the nav service is started. so changes in codeunits are active after restart and will not be loaded before a restart.
