Serial Number issue on Purchase Packing Slip update - On-Hand inventory is registered, but Serial ID not added to Main table

Hi,

we have an issue with Serial Numbers when posting a purchase packing slip. For items with the dimension Serial number activated (and without serial number group on the item details), you can enter any value in the field Serial Number on the Purchase Line. When you post the purchase packing slip, on-hand inventory is registered, but the serial ID is not added to the main table of Serial Numbers. This seems a bug to me, or do I miss a parameter here? Thanks for your feedback! Version AX 2009 SP 1 RU 6.

    Hi Lies,

    It sounds like the "post physical stock" checkbox is not selected on your inventory dimension group you have assigned to your serial numbered item. When this checkbox is blank, you can enter a serial number on a line, but it does not create a record in the serial number table.

    To get the result you expect , in your test sytem I recommend creating a new Inventory dimension group for serial numbered items, but ensuring the checkbox menitoned above is selected. Then assign the items to this new group. Yuo will be unable to delete the old dimention group, but you can rename to e.g. "do not use"

    Thanks a lot for your reply! It works exactly how you describe it.

    It surprises me however, that we have to create a new group. Trying to "fix" it in sql doesn't solve the problem...

    Hi Liz,

    "fixing" things like this in SQL is something I could never feel comfortable with- it's a critical part of the AX Inventory system, so the cost of a mistake is very high, versus the low risk solution I described.
