Caught off guard with the DynamicsCRM service authentication type change

Posted on by 22

With the Auth type change from Passport to OAuth2, we were caught off guard by not knowing that the deadline of expected switch over in advance.

My Dynamics CRM administrators probably received the notification long ago, but they might have not understood the significance of this change that would have brought down all running integration services related to connecting Dynamics 365 service from backend, or they were not aware of it as well as I was.

As a developer, not Admin, my question is, where and how should I sign up for this kind of product upgrades or/and security updates advance notification so we will be better prepared next time?

Thanks in advance!

(BTW, thanks to this community, I have the fixes in place and ready to deploy to production, just wish I knew this coming a bit earlier.)

    Hey Steve.

There are a couple things you should be checking:

    a) NOtifications are posted on the Microsoft365 Admin center.  This is the documentation docs.microsoft.com/.../message-center

    b) docs.microsoft.com/.../manage-email-notifications using Powershell to add additional people receiving notifications

    b) The admin center has an API that you can use to build your own notifciation system docs.microsoft.com/.../service-communications-api-overview

    Best regards
