Announcements
I just came across something that I need clarification on.
1099 Vouchers posted to 2021-01 when 1099 years are 2019 and 2020.
Purged oldest 1099 year and 1099 years are now 2020 and 2021.
Checks posted to 2021-01
No 1099 amount shows in Vendor Maintenance for 2021.
Ran AP Integrity Check to rebuild 1099's and amounts didn't change.
From the sequence of events, it seems like 2021 needed to be a 1099 year when the vouchers were posted in order to tally up.
Is my assessment accurate?
Just wanted to reply that I reviewed the check date for 2020/2021 transactions and they all fall within the respective calendar years. We'll just keep an eye on it for next year..it's very odd, but not worth the cost of a support case.
Thank you for your input on this topic.
Laura
Dear Laura,
I asked a Financial agent based on your original query
It doesn’t matter what the period to post is. 1099 history is based on the check date. If the period to post was 01-2021 but the check date was something like 12/27/2020, the check updates 2020 1099 history. I’m guessing from your description (open 1099 years were still 2019 and 2020) that the check date was in one of those two years. Otherwise, the system would have told them the check date has to be in an open 1099 year.
In that scenario, when they purged 2019 so that the open 1099 years were 2020 and 2021, the 1099 history for 2020, including probably this check that was posted to period 02-2021 is still there as a 2020 payment.
If they want to verify that, they can look at a check register, vendor maintenance, any report that shows the check date. The period to post does not matter. 1099 reporting is all based on the check date.
You might want to create a case in support to get this sorted out?

All of the checks are dated in the same month that they are posted. Check dated 1/15/2021 is in perpost 2021-01.
I found the same situation for checks and vouchers for the beginning of 2020 . I reviewed those in detail and everything looks good.
I can literally pinpoint the differences to the vouchers that were posted to 2020-01 before the 1099 year existed for 2020. The checks were issued after the 1099 year was advanced to 2020 and it's the same issue.
AP_Balances that holds the 1099 accumulators are off by the exact amount of the vouchers for 2020 that were released prior to rolling the 1099 year.
I told the client to roll the 1099 year sooner for 2021 and not wait till 2022.
Crazy situation, but I can't come up with any other cause.
Maybe someone from Microsoft can explain exactly what updates AP_Balances. I assume I could go digging for the stored procedure to see if that provides more insight as well.
Laura, one of my colleagues (who is seeing these posts but unable to login himself) was wondering if this 2021 check was Posted to 2021 and dated in 2020? Or vice versa?
Yep, that would be a new one on me as well. You're right, I did misunderstand: my apologies. If I come across a solution, I'll be sure to post here.
I understand that - and that is not happening. So I think you have misunderstood what I laid out in my original post.
The check posted to 2021-01 and is not showing up in the 2021 1099 balance.
The same exact situation occured for the first voucher\check batch of 2020 as well.
In all my years of doing SL I have never seen this.
Either I'm not understanding, or I'm not making myself clear enough. If the check was written in 2021, then that amount will be in the 2021 1099's.
Unfortunately, it isn't correct. 1099 amounts are off by the one check that was posted to 2021.
This all seems very odd. I'll have to do some testing on the clients site.
That won't matter. The 1099 picks up when the voucher was paid, not when it was entered. You should be fine.
The checks were posted to 2021 which was an open 1099 year when the checks were created. But 2021 was not an open 1099 year when the vouchers were created.
