Can you explain your problem? Do you know that you can upgrade most data without stopping the source system?

    Hi Martin,

I haven't tried Data upgrade before. I'm not sure about the effort that will consume to upgrade this size.

My costumer has DB of size 300GB and they need to upgrade.

So,I want to know whether it is possible or not?

If it is possible, then how?

And I don't know, whether I can upgrade most data without stopping the source system.

    Thanks in Advance

Of course it's possible. Upgrade of standard database objects is supported by Microsoft and there is also a framework for handling your customizations.

How? I suggest you read the documents from Microsoft that explain it. Especially:

    Martin,

I have read all those documents already and I will refer again and again while I start my process. So Thanks for sharing it.

    I have following doubts,

How can I make faster, as I'm worried about the huge size. Will it provide any performance issues. Etc..

How actively State Transfer Tool  and IDMF(Intelligent Data Management Framework ) will help me on this?

    It's not that big.

Make sure you follow recommendations in the best practice document (linked above). IDMF can help you get rid of some data that you don't want to upgrade.

    Hi Divya

You could also evaluate to move the data using DIEF ( technet.microsoft.com/.../jj225591.aspx ). Obviosuly, only the master data without the Transactions.

You can leave in readonly mode an Environment with AX 2009 just for consulting purpose.

    Hi Denis,

I will consider DIXF also, but when a customer asks for upgrade obviously they'll not accept for this scenario.

Even if we put an environment in readonly mode, client has to maintain some server, space,DB etc...

I considered to bring opening balances alone in my previous upgrade.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Divya Lakshmi.J
