Hi All,

Is there a way to email business document as an attachment using email notification connector in Power automate. I have implemented a simple email notification mechanism using BusinessEvent framework and Power automate, but have a requirement to send business document like Sale order invoice or Purchase order confirmation as an attachement in email notification. Is it possible or has someone done this before ?

Thanks,

Baber.

    Hi,

Is is mandatory to use power automate? You can send documents by email within D365 as well. You can find an example here: www.sikich.com/.../

You can use it for sales order confirmation as well.

    Hi Baber,

Yes it is possible, you might need to add meta data in business event which can be easily customize.

    Hi Baber,

What you can do is creating the documents with the help of electronic reporting and define SharePoint as the output destination. Once the documents are created on SharePoint, PowerAutomate can grab the file, attach it to an email and send it out to your customer.

Posted a couple of those examples on my blog.

    Maybe have a look.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig,

Thanks for your suggestion. One question though, how I am going to provide the filename to Power Automate? Does that needs to be included in the Schema using customization ?

    Thanks,

    Baber.

    Hi Baber,

What I regularly do is defining the name with the help of electronic reporting (ER).

As an example, you can define via a simple ER formula that invoices have a structure such as CompanyId-CustomerId-InvoiceId.

This principle can be applied basically for all ER reports.

Once you have that you can then user PowerAutomate to separate and identify the customerid, group all invoices that belong to the same customer in the same company and send all invoices out as a single attachment.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
