Fields not available in business rules

Posted on by 230

Hi - I am trying to create business rules on a contact form, but in the action section some fields are not there. Company name (customer lookup) and email are not available to set as required (or any other action).

Would anybody have an idea as to why?

Thanks,

Rob

I have the same issue in Jan 2024, business rules do not display Multi-options fields as an "Action" field; Was this fixed?
and yes I know the exact name of the field, it does not appear in the list.

I also have the issue of multi-select options/choices not showing as fields in business rule and its been a few years since your issue raised so I guess they don't plan on changing this?

How difficult is this script to add multiselect?

I just discovered by trial and error that if the field is set as Multiselect Option Set, it will not show in Business Rules. All the other fields seem to work with business rules such as Single Line, Multiple Line, Whole Number, Two Options, etc.

Thank you very much for the replies. Unfortunately it was not just a naming thing. I had to have a member of my team write some script as a work around.

    Hi partner,

It is very likely that the Display Name of Company name field and Email field have been changed.

The Display Name property of the field can be changed. But the Name property cannot be changed.

    So please check:

    • the field which Name is parentcustomerid, whether its Display Name is Company Name?
    • the field which Name is emailaddress1, whether its Display Name is Email?

If not, please change them to this. Then the business rule can be set correctly.

    Hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Lu Hao

    Hi,

I tested in my environment, i can see those fields. Can you double check again to ensure you didnt miss it , or you have different name from label name.

    Hi Rob,

Ensure that you are looking based on the display name of the field within the Business Rule. Company Name & Email are the default display name but if you changed the display name then it will appear as that name.

    Hope this helps.
