License upgrade from Dunamics AX to D365 for operation on premises

Posted on by

Hi,

My customer has purchased Dynamics AX 2012 Onpremises licenses and right now they are with Active SA.

Customer wants the licenses for Latest D365 for Operations On premises license to be available for him as he is eligible as per the active SA.

When he login on VLSC portal he has been shown the latest Version as D365 for Operations and when he click to download license key he has been routed to customer source portal and in customer source portal he is not able to get the D 365 for Operations On premises software as well as licenses.

Please suggest is any thing needs to be done to get the D 365 for Operations on premises License key while the customer has purchased Dynamics AX on premises with SA.

Maybe this ebecs webinar  will help.

A partner should be able to place a Transition order via Order Central

    Hello Pradeep,

Licensing issues are often complex and difficult to answer.

To geet a clear and straightforward answer, I would recommend that you contact your local MS support and the licensing expert available there.

They will be able to provide you with a clear answer on what to do exactly to get the D365FO license conversion.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Pradeep,

If the customer has an active SA, he would be allowed to get updates and fixes. To get a license upgraded, a new license should be configured. I don't know the conversion rules, but a partner should be able to advice the customer eventually with help from Microsoft. Microsoft will also create an LCS project for the customer which would be the starting point to deploy the software. You can read it on the next page: docs.microsoft.com/.../purchase-on-premises
