Error Message - Email editor control is deprecated...

Hi, we have one employee who has recently been receiving an error message when selecting a template to use in a new email. When selecting the template, they receive a blank page, with the following message:

“This email editor control is deprecated and is no longer supported. Learn how to upgrade to the new email editor here: https://docs.microsoft.com/dynamics365/marketing/developer/email-designer-customization

No other employee has this issue. We've had them clear their cache which fixes the problem temporarily, but it is not a permanent solve. Is there something we need to do to get their system updated?

    Hi Matt,

    I would like to know if the templates in trouble are custom templates or all templates?

    Would you please provide the version of the employee's marketing app?\

    And please provide a screenshot by navigating to Settings > Feature switches.

    Below is a screenshot of their marketing app version. The employee is only using custom templates (created from emails), and they don’t have access to Feature Settings. Is that something that I as an administrator can access for them, or would my feature settings suffice?

    Hi Matt,

    It is most likely caused by that the custom templates are not compatible with the new version of designer.

    You can try to copy the HTML of the templates and paste it into a new created template with the new designer.

    That didn't look to solve the issue. They are having the experience with most templates - that error always appears on custom template. Sometimes they can still use the email template, and sometimes they can't - it seems random. When creating a new template from copied HTML, the error still appeared.

    Hi, just wanted to follow up - we have identified that it seems the problem stems from templates that incorporate html code that allowed for custom formatting that previously wasn't available in Dynamics. Earlier versions of Dynamics allowed for that html formatting to be integrated, but it seems the newer version removed that ability. Is there a workaround for us to copy the old templates and ignore that formatting, or will we need to recreate all of our templates from scratch?

    Hi, was there a solution to this? I have a user experiencing the same issue and would like to resolve.

    Was the end solution to manually recreate the templates?

    There was no solution in the end - we manually recreated the templates block by block. It's something we've historically had to do every 6-12 months.

    Thanks for confirming. If it is of any help, I had this problem with a user today. I was dreading the idea of having to rebuild templates but was able to solve it by having the user manually change the form she was viewing. It had defaulted to an older form for some reason and when we changed to the New Experience form it worked and changed this to her default form.
