I'm trying to get an entity's GUID in a field in its form (for my own weird reasons).

Any way of doing it automatically with a process?

Currently the only way I can think of is manually exporting all entities to excel and re-importing with the GUID in the required field after tweaking with the excel spreadsheet.

Anyone?

I recommend you look at Workflow Elements (https://kaskelasolutions.com/) which extends your workflows to get metadata, such as the GUID of the record that started the workflow, and the ability to run FetxhXML queries to get any other data you need. the reason to have the GUID inside the form it's not weird, I met several scenario where the customer wants that information.

Normally I implement an asynchronous plugin on create event to store the Id inside another field (this if the id must be searchable with advanced find for example)

another implementation is to create a small onload javascript to display the id inside a text field (or maybe concatenate it with another url piece inside an url type text field), the value after can be stored or not depending the requirement.

In the scenario where you want to create a unique URL that you can then use to export for mail merging in Mailchimp etc.

Dynamics email templates have limited support for custom URL generation.

You would need to use custom code to extract the GUID - or if you don't mind having the url around it you can add a custom string field and set it to the record Dynamic Url (which contains the GUID) using a workflow.

You can extract the Guid using a similar technique as I describe here - develop1.net/.../Polymorphic-Workflow-Activity-Input-Arguments.aspx
