Outlook Integration

We want to synchronize our Outlook Contacts with Dynamics Nav 2009/R2.

After running into the error described here (https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/nav/2012/04/22/baseline-implementation-utilizing-outlook-synchronization-in-dynamics-nav-2009-r2/) we installed build 38655.

Now the error still occurs when I try to synchronize using the webservice. I also tried to establish a connection using the Application server but since the new hotfix is installed I get the error that the database has been converted with a newer version of the classic client.

But the Classic Client was updated by replacing the files under c:\program files(x86)\... So I assume that I also need a new setup file to install a new version of the outlook addin which I do not find anywhere.

Can anyone please help me?

There are two local folders C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\OLSync and ...\OLHandler that contain files from 2010. Do you mean these?

But what shall be copied there?

Or do you mean C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\Communication Component?

the olsync dll file goes into folder e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\

from an nav2009 hotfix readme (zitation):

    File information

The global version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.

File name File version File size Date Time Platform

    Microsoft.dynamics.nav.olsync.navsyncaddin.dll 5.10.24547.1 947,096 03-Sep-2011 19:27 x86

To install this hotfix, follow these steps:

Exit any instances of Outlook that are running.

In the following path, replace the Microsoft.Dynamics.NAV.OLSync.NAVSyncAddIn.dll file with the updated file:

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\

    Notes

If you are running a 64-bit operating system, replace "Program Files" with "Program Files (x86)" in the path.

Replace Office14 in the path with the version of Office that you are running.

At a Command Prompt, run the following command line:

    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\RegAsm.exe "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\Microsoft.Dynamics.NAV.OLSync.NAVSyncAddIn.dll"

    Note

The relevant parts of the path should be corrected based on the corresponding operating system and the corresponding version of Microsoft Office.

If you receive the following error message for a salesperson, make sure that the email address in the contact item is either typed manually or else synchronized from Microsoft Dynamics NAV:

The related item for the synchronized Outlook item is not found

This problem is related to the salesperson contact item that is linked to the global address list. The salesperson contact item is not allowed to link to the global address list. This problem can occur when you set the mail address for the contact in Outlook instead of in Microsoft Dynamics NAV. Under typical circumstances, by using the newest version of the .dll file, you can set the email address in Microsoft Dynamics NAV and then synchronize the email address to Outlook.
