Auto serial number registration for Product receipt from purchase order

Hi All, 

I am using AX12 R3 - CU8. If anyone has configured to register serial number why doing PO product receipt through scan machine or upload from excel file?

My current process: 

- Raise a PO for invetory item- Send to vendor - vendor deliver all items including the list of serial number.

- Create a product receipt - line - Registration - Manual assign serial number for each item. 

Issue: Create an extra work load for inventory staff, incorrect serial number by manual entering.

Therefore i am looking for a new process which I can use mobile device to scan serial number and auto register them through product receipt.

I have tested Warehosue mobile device protal but it still can't link serial number to my product receipt.

Did any one have done this procee?

    Scan it creates the registration, then you post the receipt based upon the registered quantities.

    Hi Nyashadzashe Marumani,

    The best way to automate this error free is to ask vendor to send barcoded packing list for the purchased items.

    Now you have two options to receive the items one using mobile device scanners where you can scan the serial numbers and there will be no need to type them and second is to use AX registration form.

    Below is the example where i created a purchase order for 11 pcs for an item for which first two items I have received using mobile device.

    In the above screenshot you can see two mobile device screens where the batch and serials are scanned and below how they look in AX.

    The other option is to do the same from AX using registration form.

    Yes, I can do this now. We have simple hand held scan machine. You also need to turn on Warehouse mobile device portal ( VMDP) + warehouse management module in AX once we configure them correctly it will be very simple to use.

    We do a product receipt, scan each item, it will be auto registered against each item quantity.

    Hello,

    Could someone please provide (preferably with screenshots) on how you have to setup the reservation hierarchy and tracking dimension group to make it so you can capture both serial number and batch number like shown in the screenshot?

    Hi Jeff Hickey,

    Kindly see the below screenshots as requested by you. Once you have enabled your item like below you can use the warehouse app to register serial and batch numbers as shown above in my reply.
