Management Reporter Security

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I have two users who have sysadmin roles applied to their user accounts in AX. One of them successfully connects to MR and the other is receiving a message to specify the location of the MR server address.

Both users connecting to AOS01, the MR server is at AOS02.

Is there anything else apart from internal AX2012 security roles that is deciding who gets access and who does not?

    Sohaib, thank you as usual.

I've added a bunch of new users yesterday, today I can normally change their security roles in MR. The two users who existed in the MR prior to applying the license I cannot edit or delete at all, they appear to be entirely stuck.

Ok, now that the license if properly installed I have a stuck user in design role, I'd like to edit to make him an Admin and I can't change the role.

I can't even remove the user.

Can I do this in SQL?

The issue was related to the license not being properly installed. Doh!

    Thanks guys.

The system admin role will not grant a user access to MR.

Try giving the user a different role such as security admin.

remove systemadmin role from user1(which is working in MR), restart aos and management reporter services, now check user2.

I've tried it but it complains that User doesn't have appropriate permissions to connect to the server, which is why I'm questioning as to where this is set.

Open MR Client for user 2; Proceed to Tools >> Connections, now make sure to specify the valid URL of MR server long with Port, you can take this information from machine of user1
