Database Log - changes to security roles being audited?

I'm looking for a way to audit + log changes made to any security roles within AX2012.  I have successfully added/removed and logged other tables/fields, but I'm struggling to work out which table etc I need to log this type of change or update.

Any help appreciated.

First of all, as maybe you already discovered, the security in 2012 is kept in the _Model database as AX artifacts, and not as data setup of the system. The tables used in the database are prefixed with ModelSecurity*. There are also Views created, their names prefixed with SECURITY*. The same views are available in AX, in the System documentation node, and can be browsed.

Now, not sure what kind of audit you are thinking of, but not sure if Database Log will work on these - however, I haven't tried it myself to see if it works or not. Not sure what type of audit you are referring to, and if you've used something else in your endeavors.

    Hi ddh76,

Like Lulian mentioned, the security objects are in the AOT, it is not a table setup. To keep track of changes you could setup source control, e.g. Team foundation server or the MorphX. For more information, check this page: msdn.microsoft.com/.../aa639568.aspx

The database log can only be used to track the user assignments to roles.

Just out of interest, how would you turn on logging for the user role assignment?

I'd be interested in how to turn on DB logging of User assignment to Roles as well, do any of you have an update or solution?

    Kind regards,

    Alex

Logging of the user assignment is not working in AX2012. It is possible to select the table "Security user role" from the System node when you choose to see all tables (not only main), but the outcome is not like expected. Several versions don't insert records. AX 2012 R3 insert records on insert and delete, but the details are empty. So not useful.

Yes, I can confirm that it does nothing on R2 CU6.

Perhaps a little late, but I just posted an example of a very small customisation to enable audit logs for role membership changes for users:

An excellent solution - I only wish I had found it sooner.

I asked this on your blog already but why is the Company field set to blank?
