Internal server error

Recently one of our clients has been getting this error message.

Internal-server-error.png

The error message occasionally happens when trying to open a page, but there doesn't seem to be any relation between this error occuring and the page being opened.

Also note that so far it has not been possible to reliably reproduce this error message.

Translated to english the message says:

A server error has occurred and the contents can not be displayed. Refresh the page or open a new browser window.

In the server log we find the following entries:

Fout bij het openen van website Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2015 Web Client. URL: https://***/WebClient/Card.aspx?company=West&bookmark=29%3bdOoAAAJ7%2f0sAVgBXAC0AMAAwADAANgA5&mode=Edit&page=50020&i=516A&IsDlg=1 Type: Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.UI.FormNotFoundException Message: Het scherm is leeg of is niet gevonden. StackTrace: at Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.UI.Web.FormControl.VerifyLogicalFormInstanceExists() at Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.UI.Web.FormControl.OnInitCore(EventArgs e) at Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.UI.Web.WebEventExecutor.<>c__DisplayClass3.<Execute>b__2() at Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.UI.Web.WebEventExecutor.ExecuteCore[T](Func`1 webEvent, Func`1 condition) Source: Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.UI.Web

Note that this error only occurs while using the web client of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2015 (v8.0.38457.0)

Is there anything we could do to prevent this error from happening? On request, we can supply extra information.

Can you check and report back to us with the error in the Windows log. (Always first check the windows error log, it contain all the related info).

Are there any customizations been done to particular page?

The error from the windows log was in my original message:

Fout bij het openen van website Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2015 Web Client. URL: https://***/WebClient/Card.aspx?company=West&bookmark=29%3bdOoAAAJ7%2f0sAVgBXAC0AMAAwADAANgA5&mode=Edit&page=50020&i=516A&IsDlg=1 Type: Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.UI.FormNotFoundException Message: Het scherm is leeg of is niet gevonden. StackTrace: at Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.UI.Web.FormControl.VerifyLogicalFormInstanceExists() at Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.UI.Web.FormControl.OnInitCore(EventArgs e) at Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.UI.Web.WebEventExecutor.<>c__DisplayClass3.<Execute>b__2() at Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.UI.Web.WebEventExecutor.ExecuteCore[T](Func`1 webEvent, Func`1 condition) Source: Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.UI.Web

It looks like the actual error is this:

    Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.UI.FormNotFoundException

The page is nothing special... just a card page with a couple of control actions.

The record is also nothing special... and opening this page with this record usually works.

But occasionally this error appears. (it can also appear when opening a different record or a different page...)

One idea is to check the SQL settings of the database. If this error occurs just occasionally, it might be caused by some read/write blocks of the data. Perchance, some dirty reads occurs at the moment when some other user is performing operations?

    Thanks for the suggestion.

I'll make sure to give the database settings another check.

    Hi,

Please see, if you are able reproduce the similar error while using NAV Web client in local network (users having admin rights).

Also check, if you are getting this error both in IE & Chrome.

You might try applying the latest CU 16 in test environment and see the results.

Also try giving admin rights (in domain, SQL & NAV) to user & check the output in test environment.

    Regards,

    Vishal Salot

I have seen the error with both IE and Chrome. I haven't seen it with Firefox yet, but that could be because of the randomness of the error.

I'll try finding some time to try your suggestions.
