Emailing statements requires email and password every time

Posted on by 91

When running statements and trying to email them to clients (GP 2018), for every statement we get the exchange log On request for email address and password.

This has been going on for quite some time and is there a way to setup exchange email so that it just works.

Also, after many statements go out, GP aborts and I get the following:

Unhandled Object exception

Word experienced an error trying to open the file.  Try these suggestions. "Check the file permissions for the document or drive."  Make sure there is sufficient free memory and disk space.  Open the file with text recovery converter.

The folder is fully shared read/write by all users

I increased the RAM and disk space massively so that can't be the issue.

If anyone has any idea what it's going to take to get my statements out to clients, please let me know.

It should just prompt for a user's Exchange Log On credentials once per GP session. When this occurs, it'll write to the SY04920 table, or verify one already exists, for the Exchange account/GP login / EWS URL being used.

If it is prompting a user every time they attempt to use email functionality in GP, and they're not logging out of GP or changing users or anything like that, if the SY04920 table is correct, it almost seems like an issue with AutoDiscover not working and/or going in and out.

The other two parts that really make up the Exchange login side are the requirement for basic authentication and MFA not being used (unless on GP 18.3), and since the users seem to be able to get the Exchange Log On window to accept the credentials, it just keeps prompting them over and over, those two would seem to be fine.

That seems to leave the Autodiscover side of things, where it can't validate the Exchange credentials/GP login/EWS URL information in the SY04920 table with the Exchange Server, where on prem or Online, being used, thus it keeps prompting for that information.

I can't say I've seen this type of behavior though, either it's working fine, or not working and continuing to prompt the user's for their credentials over and over, stating the login failed.

    Thanks
