Update the SQL Server Reporting Services on Microsoft DEV VM (VHD)

Hi All,

We are using Microsoft Dev VM on a local machine, downloaded from LCS. 

Let's just say we restored the data from Microsoft SQL Server 2017 database (UAT server) to Microsoft SQL Server 2016 database ( Dev Server)

Unfortunately, the reporting services are not working ever since. We have tried to upgrade the SQL Server version and the reporting services at the DEV server. But it's not work our way and still having problems while deploying or running reports. 

Kindly help in this regards.

    Hi Zain,

    You can apply service updates on the current SQL version, but it is not recommended to upgrade to another higher SQL version.

    When the reporting service is not working, do you get error messages in e.g. an event log or SQL log?

    Hi Andre,

    We get it in the event log. The error says, please provide credentials to run the report. However, their are no credentials for such. Moreover we get error in deploying the reports as well.

    Hi Zain,

    After you restored DB, have you run script mentioned in docs.microsoft.com/.../dbmovement-scenario-exportuat.

    Is DB name is still the same after import?

    Hi Sergei,

    I am currently reviewing the same plan. I did not run the script earlier. I am creating a new VM will run the script this time.
