A couple of weeks ago one of my colleagues needed a component to refresh a large list page in Nav. He searched the internet and found a possible solution on FreddyDK's blog: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/freddyk/archive/2009/11/03/timer-events-on-a-page.aspx . I was asked by my colleague to implement this and install the AddIn on his computer.
I had tested the timer on a couple of small list pages and as far as I could see, it wasn't causing any problems. However, on my colleague's computer, it did cause a lot of issues when used in a large list page: when the page was still retrieving its records and the refresh timer went off, Nav complained about concurrent db call and sometimes Dynamics Nav even crashed. After that, my colleague decided to abandon the idea of a refresh timer and he told the users it was their responsibility to refresh the page once in a while.
At the moment, the users find it quite annoying they have to refresh their page manueally. They've just upgraded from the Classic Client to the RTC. In the Classic Client we could do this using a timer on a form, but since the birth of pages, there isn't really an alternative.
Now, I was wondering, is there anybody how knows how we could make this refresh timer work in Nav or does anybody have any idea if there are any alternatives.
