Physical cost amount and financial cost amount not rounded off correctly

Hi All,

I have created a transfer journal and posted in AX 2009.

Issue: when I have looked at the on hand of the item, quantity is 0 (from inventory dimensions), but the physical cost amount not rounded fully.

From inventory (on hand of the item):

8270.from.PNG

To inventory (on hand of the item)

6136.to.PNG

In from dimension, physical cost amount remains by 1 (12416,20 - 12416,19 = 1).

Please advice.

Many thanks in advance!

Further when I debug, I am getting the inventrans.CostAmountAdjusted as 0.01.

    Which calculates the value 12416.19.

Does anyone have any idea how this adjustment 0.01 for a item is made automatically by AX.

    Transaction form of the item:

    Thanks,

    Goutham

    Hi Goutham,

Have you already tried running an inventory recalculation to get this resolved?

    Best regards,

    Hi Goutham,

It's difficult to explain exactly why you're seeing this without know more about your setup and the other transactions on this item, but what you're seeing is not particularly wrong. In the From location, you have a physically updated inventory receipt that cost 12,416.20, but AX has decided to issue that stock at 12,416.19 (based on the rules of the costing method you are using). In the To location, AX has valued the receipt at 12,416.19 (12,416.20 plus an adjustment of -0.01).

What ever brought the inventory into the 'From' location is only physically updated. If you get that financially updated (e.g. if it's a Purchase order, post the invoice. If it's a production order, End it) and then run Inventory close, you may well find that AX revalues these transactions further.

    Hi,

Yes, I have tried this already. Recalculation doesn't help.

    Thanks,

    Goutham

    Hi Guy Terry,

I have tried as you mentioned by closing the Purchase Line. I could see some change.

Now the line( from inventory) looks like this.

    closed-line.PNG

Is inventory closing is the only process to remove this line completely?

Probably just posting the PO invoice moved the Physical cost amount into the Financial cost amount - leaving 0.01.

By the way, when you use the 'On-hand' tab of the 'On-hand inquiry', you should set the 'Dimension display' carefully first. Only enable the Storage and Tracking dimensions which are enabled for 'Financial Inventory' (and any of the Product dimensions, if you use them).

For back ground understanding of the Physical/Financial cost amount topics, you could try some of the chapters in this Hands on Lab:

    Hi Guy ,

Could you explain more on the above statement ? Why it leaves 0.01 ?

    Hi lally,

The Physical cost amount field contains the value of the physically updated (but not financially updated) inventory.

The Financial cost amount field contains the value of the financially updated inventory.

Since the Physical cost amount was 12,416.20 and the Financial cost amount was -12,416.19, when the physically updated stock became financially updated, the 12,416.20 became financially updated. 12,416.20 + -12,416.19 = 0.01.

I cannot tell why the On-hand form is showing 0.01 in this scenario (i.e. I cannot tell why the Physically updated cost and Financially updated cost were not the same).
