Can not use DLL, even that it is in GAC and under AOT Reference

I have added a DLL in the AOT Reference  (AX2012 R2) that I have selected from GAC, but I get compile error just as it does not exist, the code intellisense does recognise it either.  It works fine if I add it in VS 2010.

Any suggestion what I can do (I've restarted AOS and Server)?

Is it a .Net-assembly, and what version of .Net is it built on?

Yes, and the prerequisitesm is Microsoft .NET Framework v3.5 or higher for the DLL. I'm running this on W2k8R2

Could you try restart the AOS while wathing the Windows Application Event Log. You could also drop the dll in the Server\bin folder, and also the Client\bin folder where you are developing and want intellisense.

I got the same result if I copy the dll- file to the bin folders. When I check the Event Log is says it:  Could not load assembly or one of its dependencies for the specific DLL

    Hi Glenn,

After copying the dll file in client and server bin folders, stop the AOS, delete the *.auc file (C:\Users\yourUserId\AppData\Local folder), start the AOS and then try to compile your objects. I faced the same issue and this worked for me.

    Thanks,

    Hi

I've found the cause of the problem. By using regasm to try register the dll,  I got an error that I was missing another dll that was not in that package. After I installed that one everything works.

    Thanks for your help

I strongly recommend utilizing the Assembly Binding Log Viewer in these situations.
