Master Planning and pegging planned orders

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Help please!

Trying to understand if the "Refesh peg.cols" action is a required step when firming planned orders, as we would like to automate firming for transfer orders.

in standard Ax you can autofirm within a time fence.

In principle when you autofirm then everything is in sync as far as mrp knows - however, that assumes you will not need to action messages, and that there are  not things that mrp does not; know about .e,g. that you plan to  expedite a favoured customer's order, work overtime,  or sub contract, or that you can part ship or that LT can be influenced, or you want o run  to mamimum available material, .....

Whether you should depends on many factors, that will constantly vary e.g.do you make to stock or to order, hw far ahead  you need to firm,   how accurate stable is your forecast, do you use atp/CATP, do you finite or infinite, hw much spare capacity/material do you typically hold, what is the trade off between service and efficient operations - do you lead times and fences reflect that , how long is your production cycle, hw disruptive are changeovers etc. i.e. would you normally always firm without making changes.

So its really a how long is apiece of string?, and the answer will vary product by product and maybe period by period, and I suspect  you have already decided that auto firming will work best for your situation. ideally 80% of your business (regular runners, own brand make to stock, long term contracts etc) you should be able to trust to mrp which should be parameterized to optimise cost and service i.e. revenue - . the rest is where decisions are needed and the overall cost- profit makes the extra admin and expediting cost  worthwhile.o

You are correct in that this is a customisation.

Hence why I cannot find much documentation on it.

    Hi Mike,

I have't seen this option before. Can you check if it is a customization or part of a partner solution?
